On Friday 21st August, Neville Power, Chairman of the NCCC will be in Perth spruiking his vision of a gas filled future at an exclusive business breakfast at Perth Convention Center. We are joining forces with School Strikes for Climate and will be there to call out this terrible plan and call on the government to reject it.

As soon as the Covid Commission was announced, it became very clear what recommendations would be made by them – Government support for more gas. With Nev Power at the helm, they have a man who has been calling for an east-west gas pipeline for years now. Being the deputy chairman of Strike Energy, he also has a vested interest in promoting the gas industry.

This isn’t the future we need or want. The recovery from the covid crisis can and should begin to solve multiple crises at once;

  • the climate crisis
  • the continued threat to first nations people and their lands
  • The economic downturn

While Nev and the Federal Government have been plotting to write off billions of dollars to help their mates in the gas industry, others have been working on genuine solutions to these problems. Now is the time to enact ambitious ideas for our future economy that could make Australia a world leading renewables powerhouse, instead of being backers of the fossil gas industry.

So come down to our SNAP ACTION next Friday and demand the government listen to those of us who will be saddled with more fires, more floods and more crises if Nev gets his way.
