The fossil fuel boss says:

“Scope 3?
It’s nothing to do with me,
Not my responsibility.
You know, we are not even properly counting,
It doesn’t enter into our accounting,
At least, not accurately.”

The Government official says:

“Scope 3?
Why are you making all this fuss?
It’s nothing to do with us,
Not our responsibility.
You know, we are not even properly counting
It doesn’t enter into our accounting,
At least, not seriously.”

The fossil fuel boss says:

“Scope 3.
They’re free!
Not our responsibility.”

But I say:

“Scope 3
They are not ‘free’.
And the evidence is mounting
That it should be in your accounting.
There must be accountability.
You must take responsibility.”

“You are peddling emissions across the sea.
It still ends up, I fear,
As Carbon in the atmosphere.
It doesn’t matter if it’s burned here or there,
It still adds Carbon to our air.”

There’s only one world you know.
So, it doesn’t matter where you emit.
You know it’s really unforgivable
Cause you’re making our world unliveable.
Don’t you even care one little bit?

So, we all say:

“Scope 3
They’re not ‘free’.
And the temperatures are mounting,
So, they must go into our accounting.
We’ve got to take this seriously.
We’ve got to take responsibility,
For Scope 3!”
